CDL 2020 Tournament Structure
Online Home Series
Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the CDL has had to restructure to an online format for the foreseeable future.
The new online system will take place over three day from Fridays at 4 p.m. ET, Saturdays at 1 p.m. ET, and Sundays at 4 p.m. ET.
The structure and format will remain the same with the CDL being focused on tournament-based play with a CDL Point system.
Teams will earn 10 CDL points for every match won with 8 teams competing in tournament bracket play.
They will be separated into two groups of four. Teams will compete against each other until four teams have won two matches (GSL group format).
These teams advance to a single-elimination bracket to determine the event winner, with teams earning 10 points for each win. The event winners will receive an extra 10 bonus points.
Points are distributed as follows:
- 1st Place – 50 CDL Points
- 2nd Place – 30 CDL Points
- 3rd/4th Place – 20 CDL Points
- 5th/6th Place – 10 CDL Points
- 7th/8th Place – 0 CDL Points

The top two seeds will receive byes. The last two teams will compete for the Call of Duty League Championship.

Challenger Series And Open Bracket Events
Champs Format Update
- August 2020
- $4.2m prize pool
UPDATE: APRIL 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Challenger series has shifted to purely online play for the foreseeable future.
Call of Duty Challengers events will now take place online in conjunction with teams’ Home Series weekends and will feature dedicated tournaments across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
The league will also produce five dedicated two-day Challengers events, each with US $50,000 in prizes, held across all three regions.
While the Dallas Empire Challengers Open is still going ahead on the 12th April, the first event (of the dedicated five) will take place on the 18th-19th April 2020.
You can read more here.
Call of Duty Challengers 2020
Call of Duty Challengers will include online ladders, online tournaments, and open tournament event competitions throughout the year beginning in November 2019, with a dedicated prize pool of over $1 million.
Several Call of Duty League pro teams will also support amateur player pipeline development by hosting Call of Duty Challengers competitions in their markets. More details regarding amateur events can be found on CallofDutyLeague.com.
Fans will also be able to compete on behalf of their cities, in a new, casual competition system called the Call of Duty League City Circuit™.
In the City Circuit, fans can compete on behalf of their favourite pro team cities through online or LAN (local area network) tournaments held exclusively by the 12 Call of Duty League teams.
This fan-focused competitive circuit – set to launch later in 2020 – will feature a duos-based format in the Call of Duty®: Modern Warfaremode “Gunfight.” Call of Duty League City Circuit carries its own prize pool and will culminate in a finals event at the Call of Duty League Championship Weekend.xzcxz\xz
Online competition includes 24/7 Ladders and Weekly Prize tournaments. 24/7 Ladders provide players a total of 5 Challengers Points per win. The first win of the day provides a bonus 5 points, totalling 10 points (5 for the win + 5 bonus points). Ladders have a weekly cap of 100 Challengers Points.
Call of Duty League preseason online tournaments in Call of Duty Challengers are worth 2,000 Challengers Points for the winning team. During the Call of Duty League regular season (beginning early 2020, on a date to be announced), online tournaments transition to competitions worth 1,000 Challengers Points.
Challengers Points will be distributed to teams ranked 1st-64th in online tournaments.
Offline or LAN (Local Area Network) competitions take place throughout the season, hosted by either the Call of Duty League or at Home Series events hosted by teams within the league.
Each Home series will feature a 10k series, starting off with a 25k series for the launch weekend. It will host a 32-64 team bracket with $10,000 on the line.
The following equipment will be provided for 2020 Challengers Open events. Competitors are responsible for bringing their own controller and headset.
Challengers Equipment:
- Monitors: ASUS VG245H
- Console: PlayStation 4 Pro
- USB Device: CronusMax CM00049
