ODST PC Release Date Announced For Master Chief Collection

Halo 3: ODST PC Release Date Announced For Master Chief Collection

It's not quiteHalo Infinite, but it'll do!

343 Industries have today finally announced that Halo 3: ODST is coming to Windows PC users in yet another update to the Halo: Master Chief Collection.

Better still, we don't have long to wait, with the new Halo PC outing arriving next week, on September 22.

“Halo 3: ODST will officially arrive on PC as part of the Master Chief Collection, on September 22,” 343 Industries nonchantly tweeted from the Halo Twitter account. “Suit up, strap in, and prepare to return to New Mombassa.”

As you might imagine, this means we can look forward to replaying the game with enhanced PC graphics and much more when it drops.

The Xbox 360 classic is now well over 10 years old and to date is still one of the best outings (in our humble opinion), especially without having to rely on Master Chief to do the heavy lifting.

For those who don't recall, players instead take control of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) during and after the events of Halo 2.

Arguably one of the most highly sought after additions to the Halo: Master Chief Collection will come in the form of ODST's Firefight game mode, which was previously removed from the Xbox One release.

Speaking ahead of release 343 had this to say about the return for the Firefight game mode:

"Players are going to be able to look forward to ODST’s Firefight which will include all of the legacy content, meaning all 10 maps, all of the classic settings, variations, and then some. We’ve also conducted several upgrades across the board.

"For the first time, we have upgraded the networking to an asynchronous networking and dedicated server model like what we have in Halo: Reach’s Firefight. This represents a serious improvement over the networking model which is used in Co-op campaign gameplay."

"The next big upgrade is matchmaking for Firefight. This will be comparable to what we have for Halo: Reach. Players can expect to see a survival themed option and an arcade-themed option to support the newly introduced game variants for ODST’s Firefight."

"We have been able to add a couple new weapons into the mix for now."
