How To Use Honey Trees - Buying Honey & Wait Time Explained
The honey tree method of catching new Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be unlocked after a showdown with Team Galactic. To gain access to the Valley Windworks building beside Floarama Town, you'll need to find the Works Key, which is conveniently located in Floarama Meadow. Once acquired, and you've dealt with Team Galactic, you'll be able to go about using honey trees to catch Pokémon.
This method can only be used on 21 specific trees around Sinnoh, which stand out due to their unique placements and colour. Approach the trees, press 'A', and then slather them in honey to attract Pokémon. It will, however, take six hours for any Pokémon to arrive. Once they're around, you'll have 24 hours to catch them before needing to repeat the process.
In case you were wondering, you also can't conveniently jump time and make this process go by any faster. The internal clock on your Nintendo Switch sadly does not affect the process whatsoever, so, you'll need to set yourself a reminder or timer and find something else to do in the meantime. For example, maybe roam around the Grand Underground or Amity Square for a while?
If you're low on honey and need some more, you can return to the man in the entrance of Floarama Meadow (accessible from the back-left corner of Floarama Town) and speak with him. One jar of honey costs $100, while a bundle of ten costs $1000. You're also likely to encounter honey as you travel around Sinnoh, too!
