Combos
Unlike every other weapon - except for the Heavy Bowgun - the Light Bowgun doesn’t actually have any combos to learn. What more do you expect from a ranged weapon?
Just make sure to manage your ammo effectively if you're to have any hope of bringing down those giant beasties!
Tips
- One of the best parts of the light bowgun is its accuracy, which makes it ideal for hitting weak spots on enemies. You'll need to ensure you hit them, too, because your ammo reserves will only go so far.
- While it's undoubtedly fun to go hunting huge monsters with only a bow and arrow, we'd recommend playing a supporting role in hunts. You can deal status effects to enemies, while other members of your hunting party get in and take advantage.
- There's no block, either, so while you're more mobile than with other classes, you'll want to use all those dodging options to keep moving.

Silkbind Attacks
New to Monster Hunter Rise are Silkbind attacks. These will consume Wirebugs, and will deal damage indicated with blue circles. Build these up to tie down monsters and trigger mountable states. Here are the Silkbind attacks for the Light Bowgun:
- ZL + X - Silkbind Glide
- ZL + A - Fanning Vault
- ZL + A - Fanning Maneuver
Now here's a bit more info on how each works:
- Silkbind Glide - Let your shots flow like water Surge forward at lightning-fast speed. Pressing the corresponding button while moving unleashes a powerful close-range severing attack.
- Fanning Vault - Rain down shots from above. Uses a Wirebug to vault you forwards. Press the corresponding button to fire, to reload, or to fire a Wyvernblast directly below you, which will stick to the monster's hide.
- Fanning Maneuver - Can be switched out with Fanning Vault. A maneuver using a Wirebug and centrifugal force to quickly flank left or right. Also temporarily ups attack power. Shots can be fired while in motion.
